TIS I your trusty and noble gaming guide here to lead you unto the riches and pirate glory that is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag! Keeping true to their word of releasing one AC game a year, Ubisoft has since revealed that in this coming Fall we will be taking to the land and the seas as the swash-buckling, privateer turned pirate, Edward Kenway. Long time players of the AC series should recognize the Kenway name as it belonged to both the main characters of ACIII, Haytham and Connor both shared in the legacy that is their ancestor. In the newest installment, the game kinda takes us a step back in Desmond's history with this game severing as a prequel to III's historical story. So enough historical mumbo-jumbo and lets get down to the brass tax and discuss what type of trouble we will be getting into in Black Flag shall we?
So first off those longtime players of the series maybe a little disappointed with this game, because while the recruitment system makes a return in the new game, players can NO LONGER call their recruits in to assassinate targets. This was explained away by Ubisoft by saying, that it took away from some of the more intense challenges and made them too easy to accomplish. So it looks like ALL you assassin couch potatoes out there are going to have to kill your own targets from now on. On the up side your little pirate/assassin minions can be promoted and claim ships for their own, now where or not you get a contribution from their hauls is left to be seen, but think about it u get to be the first pirate with a franchise!
Ubisoft has also revealed that the map will give players a more open world feel by making it less restrictive by adding in side-questing like that found in the first AC game and also by adding over 50 locations to explore and invade til ur little piratey heart's content. The map will be divide 60/40 between land areas and sea areas, and will include 3 major towns: Havana, Kingston, and Nassau. As well as over 50 other unique locations to visit.
All of u nerdy little pirates out there that dreamed of ever becoming a mighty sea hunter like the crazed and lunatic Captain Ahab, well dream no more cause the hunting system from ACIII is making a bold return allowing players to hunt on land and harpoon things on the open sea. I for one am excited to full my live long dream of shoving a harpoon up Moby's ass. Edward is also equipped with a spyglass, allowing u to view distant ships revealing their cargo and the strength of said ship. The spyglass can also enable players to check on whether there are treasures on islands or high points for synchronizations. Beats pulling the map up every 5 seconds to check something that's for sure.
Thats all I have for now, but if more is revealed or released you know where to begin ur search. On that note be sure to keep your eyes out on the horizon this October when Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag hits the store shevles. Stormy out!
