If
you've been a big fan of J-RPG's like me, from Pokemon to Fire
emblem, then you love the “Tales of” series. One of my favorite
games in that series is “Tales of Symphonia”. It was the first
game in the series to use a free roaming live action battling system,
or to get more technical, the Multi Line Linear Motion Battle System,
or the ML-LMBS for short, but not too short. I liked my name for it
better, but what'cha gonna do? imma right? Tales of Symphonia has a
special place in some of our hearts who just love J-RPG's. A fun
story line, deep plot, funny characters, a butt load of action,
re-playability, and hidden secrets to keep you busy for up 3 days
straight if you know how to do everything in advanced.
Then they released a sequel with a not so redeeming main character who is the biggest wimp in history, with a wimpy voice, who becomes a super bad ass with some serious ball droppage when he fights. Their explanation for that? A wizard did it. BUT you do get to have fun with some old characters, some new abilities, and the ability to capture monsters to fight by your side.... so... Tales of Symphonia meets... Pokemon? Well regardless, the game is fun, only downside, you will have people leaving your party ever 10 FREAKING MINUTES, thanks to plot points!
So why bring all this back up? Well PS3 fans, lucky you, you get the HD port of both the first and SECOND Symphonia games! In classic Namco fashion, they waited until everyone in existence had already played and beat their games, just to re-release it years later with a butt load of extras! With a release date in Japan for October 10th, 2013, and to be released some time in 2014 over seas.
The new game will be a re-pack of both games, and is confirmed to have new cover art for the box, remixed music (a big plus for us hard core fans), and new costumes (only 2 are confirmed for Lloyd and Genis for now) that are themed after the OTHER tales of game “Tales of the Abyss”. Being a PS3 owner, I'm more than excited for this. It's a chance to relive some good old gamer fun from days past. But sadly for people who don't own a PS3, like SOME of the admins of Nerds Socialize, you'll just have to get one to enjoy the FAN-tastic collection of two great games of our time!
