Greetings fellow gaming enthuisists and all around nerds, and welcome to another gaming update brought to you by your friendly neighborhood gaming nut, StormWulf!
So with no other gaming news to report of right now, lets jump into this shall we.
Title: Dark Souls II
Publisher(s): Namco/Bandai
From Software
Developer(s): From Software
Platform(s): PC
PS3
Xbox 360
Genre: Action/Adventure/Role-Playing
Plot: While no actual plot has been reveal at this time, the game will revolve around a cursed character trying to find a cure for his/her's agony. Game director Yui Tanimura has mentioned that the sequel will be indirectly linked to the previous game, but he did not mention exactly how that it is to be. Tanimura also said that the concept of time will factor in to the storyline as well...but also didn't specify how that is to work either.
Gameplay/Overview: So as expected the gameplay in Dark Souls II will not be any easier than it was in the previous title. Director Tanimura was quoted as saying that
"As Dark Souls focused on giving a sense of satisfaction to players. Dark Souls II is also pursuing to provide that sense."
Basically meaning that there will be NO option in the game to control the difficulty anywhere in the game. So casual gamers may want to avoid this game, or prepare themselves playing either playing the previous title, or by playing any RPG on the highest difficulty setting.
While From Software is keeping most of the game's detail under wraps, they have reveal that good ole' fashioned dungeon-crawling and devling into dark places will be a big part of the game. Level design is, while also under lock and key, going to give the player more freedom than the previous titles. Combat will remain much the same as the original Dark Souls, with the exception of Dual-wielding which is entirely new, and is going to be an integeral part of combat with Tanimura saying that "unqiue actions can be performd by combing particular weapons together". Although with the addition of more dungeons and dark places, the added encumberance of a torch can make combat more difficulty, especially for player who plan on using: Dual weapons, Two-handed weapons, or a weapon/shield combination. As far as the soul system are concerned, players od the original Dark Souls should remeber them as DS version of experience points, nothing is or has been revealed as to if there any changes or modifications at all. Finally players will not have the ability to save mutiple games or be able to pause the game mid-gameplay. Meaning one accesses the character menus at the risk of one own character's life. So be sure to clear an area of enemies be accessing said menus. Also "auto-save" will be back, so you do not have to worry about losing any progress...unless u die or what not before it saves. The additon of more horror elements means that I will definitely look into purchasing this title, cause who doesn't love a good RPG with a bit of horror mixed in, I now I don't.
Dark Souls II promises to be as good if not better than it's predecessor, so be sure look for it when it hits store shelves this March. This is StormWulf signing out saying: Stay frosty folks!
