Pony's Blizzard UPDATE!

WELL HI THERE MY LOVELY NERDS AND NERDETTES!

It's Pony here, and sorry for the lack of NOT being around. Many new things are happening for me so I've been a tad busy. But I've got a full run down of Blizzard Entertainment goodies to race through, so lets get it started!

1) In order to hold us WoW players over until the release of the next expansion, Blizzard released another patch with a new PvP season. I'm currently a week behind most hardcore Arena kids, but that's life.

2) Blizzard released Reaper of Souls today, the expansion pack to Diablo III. I've put about an hour into it so far and I'm so very pleased with it.

3) Hearthstone, Blizzard's digital card game, went live a few weeks back. And they are giving players a mount (the 'Hearthsteed') to those that win three (3) played matches outside of the starting quests.

4) This is the big one for me. At Blizzcon it was announced that Blizzard was going to be put out a DOTA style game. Think League of Legends if you play that. As soon as I heard that news I rushed to my account page and opted in to be a Beta tester for Heroes of the Storm. Not only did I get in as a Beta tester, but I'm in the ALPHA!!! So freakin' excited about this.

And one more thing. It's not Blizzard related, but this guy is nothing but hunk. (Sorry guys, had to say it. Afterall, I'm the only chick admin.) jason Momoa will be at the Louisville Comic Con!!!! Wait... you don't know him? *explodes*

I first saw this chunk of man meat while he was on Stargate: Atlantis. Then I took so much note when he was in season 1 of Game of Thrones. He played Conan in the reboot of Conan the Barbarian. He has some more movies that are currently in post and pre production.

Plus he's hot.

ANYWAY!

That is my update. And just in time. My Heroes of the Storm finished installing. And this will play hell on me wanting to go to bed early tonight.s

There will be TWO episodes to the podcast added this week. One short with Me and Mtre (my nephew) and one with me and stormwulf. Both taking place on Christmas day! just need some editing and such. And again, we're sorry for the lack of content, just been busy with holidays and such. Might try to do a New years eve podcast as well. so stay tuned folks!

Release Date for Diablo 3 Expansion: Reaper of Souls Announced!

Hi my lovely nerds and nerdettes! Pony here with a bit of Diablo 3 gaming news. The next expansion is set to release the 25th of March, next year. Oh Mr. Angel of Death, I can not wait to slice and dice you! Not much else to share, but the excitement is nice!

Well I said it would be up by Wednesday, and by golly it is! The fourth episode of the podcast is done. This one probably isn't as entertaining, but I state some personal views and rant and rave about a few things. Recognizing the Nerds at Nerds Socialize!

Okay folks, J-Foo here


As you may well know, I do a lot here on Nerds Socialize, but I sometimes forget there are people who are here to help me. Good friends who are behind the idea of Nerds Socialize as much as I am.


To help with your memory, there are three... well... four of us... wait... FIVE of us, sorry, even I forget that there is more than just me doing this, though two of them are more on the sidelines for the time being.


Starting with me (of course!): I host the podcast (which I need to record more of) and record lets plays, and do various random updates to the facebook page and manage the blog right here!


StormWulf: a good friend of mine who stays up to date on the latest games news practically 24/7, and tries his best to update the facebook news feed as much as he possibly can. He's been having some personal problems as of late, but still took the time to try and update when he could, and the fact he did that while being so busy means a lot to me, and hopefully to anyone who reads these posts. he also co-hosted the second episode of the podcast with me!


Pony: another friend of mine who is a World of Warcraft (WoW) Aficionado and keeps up to date on things invovling anything "Blizzard" entertainment related. She even helped cover some of Blizzcon for us on her own dime. That was something I didn't expect, but I was happy she was willing to do that for Nerds Socialize. Even though she was going spend the money anyway, she didn't have to take the time to put up the info on the facebook page, and we thank her for that, because little thing's, big or small helps Nerds Socialize in a big way. She also Co-hosted the 3rd episode of the podcast.


Mr. Cucoon: She is a weird one, but she was more than happy enough to help with the First episode of the podcast, along with her friend "Mr. Burrito" and talk about various things in nerd culture. she even draws comics, which we put up sometimes and can be found on Mr. Cucoon's tumblr, which you can access through our website at nerdssocialize.com.


Elihueynz: another good friend of mine. he hasn't really done anything for Nerds Socialize in an active role, but he and Mr. Cucoon really helped me suck up the courage to just put my self out there on the internet and start Nerds Socialize. I'm hoping when his life settles down soon, that he'll have a more active role here at Nerds Socialize!

Well that's it folks. I just wanted to take this quick moment to acknowledge all the people who help me, and that it's not just me putting all this together. There are good friends behind your humble host who truly believe in me and my cause. As always, thank you. We're just a bunch of Nerds socializing, but that's what we're here for.

World of Warcraft movie UPDATE!!!!

OMG! OMG! OMG! Hot diggity Thrall Balls!!!! And by that I mean those ungodly monkish beads he wears now a days. Oh yea, Pony here. OMG! 

So the Warcraft movie have been delayed to release in 2016. But this is Blizzard and I'm not surprised at all. BUT!!! And this is a big one. The cast for the movie is coming together.

This is becoming even more real as the days go by and I'm SO EXCITED! Yea i have to wait until 2016 to see it, but WHO CARES?!

Blizzcon Update 1!

AS promised, Pony here, and I am going to start updating what I have seen so far at BLIZZCON! First up, this is the last panel that I saw, a panel on Heros of the Storm. This is a general idea of what this is about. It is a MOBA game. MOBA is Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. If you play LoL (League of Legends), then HotS will be a competitor of it. Which I find Funny, because LoL essentially derived from a Warcraft 3 custom multiplayer map called "DotA" or also know as "Defenders Of the Ancients". DotA even had a song made about it back in the day by a Swedish band called Basshunter (link below, you know you can't resist!)

ALSO! We have more information on the new expansion of WoW. As I stated a few days ago, Warlords of Draenor have been trade marked in a few countries. WELP! It's the real deal. There are no new races nor classed for the fifth expansion of WoW, but really, who needs 'em? there will be MUCH more to come you guys, so stay tuned!

Episode 3: WoW and Leeroy

Well here it is at LAST! sorry it took so long folks! We here at Nerds Socialize just happen to let life take hold sometimes, and we things get crazy. but we got things back up and running once more! we've put a lot more into the works now, aside from the podcast. J-Foo is doing some "Let's play" segments and is still working on retro video game reviews. We have a few more things in mind as well. But for now, please enjoy our third episode! Our Residential WoW Guru Pony is the guest on this episode, and we talk about some really good subjects!

Episode 3

What makes you WoW and Nerdy?

HEEEELLLLLOOOOOO Ladies and Gents, it is I, Pony, your lovely Blizzard Entertainment guru. But I’m not talking about Blizzard in this post. Nope! I wanted to touch base on something else. I am a bit of a nerd, I mean come on, I would not be here if I was not. But then I got to thinking, what is a ‘Nerd’? To start things off, I’m going to actually quote Merriam-Webster here: “nerd \noun\ˈnərd\: a person who behaves awkwardly around other people and usually has unstylish clothes, hair, etc.
 a person who is very interested in technical subjects, computers, etc.”

And here is one from Urban Dictionary, there are a few on there actually, but this is the one that I personally enjoy:
“A person who gains pleasure from amassing large quantities of knowledge about subjects often too detailed or complicated for most other people to be bothered with.”

Now, I gave you these just to give you an idea of what the written definition happens to be in some circles. And this is the reason I favor the one from Urban Dictionary, I am a WoW LoreWhore. Yes, we have coined the phrase. But in this aspect, I am a nerd. I am a person that enjoys learning about the Lore of World of Warcraft. I find it very interesting. It is also why I play on a Role Playing server. I not only get to learn the Lore, but I get to interject into my server’s lore. I get to be a part of it.

Two years ago I was a part of a major RP-PvP guild on the Alliance side of the Moon Guard server. I was an officer in said guild and we were able to add a whole new layer to the server’s lore based within the actual lore of the WoW universe. I would spend many hours theory crafting with the other members of my guild as well as other guilds all together. This is one of the things that made, and added to me being a nerd. And I’m fine with that. I met GREAT people this way.

My best friend in the world is a guy I met in WoW. I’ve been to his house, met his wife and daughter, and even entertained the idea of moving in with them at one point. We are still the best of friends, despite not talking every day. We pick up where we left off. I guess I wanted to give a bit of an insight into why I am a nerd, what makes me that oh so loved four letter word. So, I send this challenge to you, what, in your own words, makes you the nerd you are today? Was it gaming? Computers? Comic books? What is the reason you are a nerd? I have my reason and I love it greatly.
