Derby City ComicCon: Big news!

Well first off, Nerds Socialize will be covering the event! so we're excited. Sadly it's for only one pass, but we can make it work! Secondly, Derby City ComicCon's owner Chuck Moore has announced that they'll be hosting ANOTHER event in November! November 22nd to be exact!

This new even will be known as the "Cavalcade of Comics" Presented by Derby City ComicCon. it will have a much deeper tie in with a shopping oriented atmosphere (though for a convention, that's almost always a given! :-D). They also hope to wrangle in some regional art for the event as well, which is a top notch idea in my opinion, And as a staple for any and all comic conventions, there will be a wide variety of comic book creators at the event. They timing for the event, as they explain, is to get people to get their shop on before the holidays. And another great thing this event yields, is that it will feature LOCAL shops, artists, ect. This is a great thing, especially for our Derby City.

Article on their Mainsite Derbycitycomiccon.com
Article on Facebook

It is truly nice to see a group of people put something together to try and support the local community where I live. It's odd that just about 6 years ago, there were hardly ANY conventions near the Derby City, and now were have a few that we all look forward to every year. In fact Derby City ComicCon was the first convention I went to in Louisville. It wasn't the biggest, or most glamorous convention in the world, but the fact it was close to home created a HUGE buzz. Actually, I was third in line for my ticket that day, and my friend Scardy was first, followed by our mutual friend Link_Girl.

I actually Found the comic that Featured Deadpools First apperance (MY FAVORITE MARVEL CHARACTER!). the guy wanted $150 for it. I jokingly told the guy "M... maybe $5?" he laughed at me lol. But then he was like "hmmm... I could do $50". I WAS SO TEMPTED! but sadly I had to restrain my nerdiness.

BUT ever since that first convention, even though it wasn't huge and glamorous, it created a  buzz that has started to attract more events that I attend now, and on top of that, Derby City ComicCon has grown each year it has been in Louisville, and looks to be a thing we will continue to look forward to each year.

If you're interesting in the "Cavalcade of Comics", here's the info!:
Taking place Saturday, November 22nd, 2014 at Ramada Plaza Louisville - Triple Crown Pavilion (9700 Bluegrass Parkway, Louisville, KY) the Cavalcade of Comics will be a companion show to our annual primary convention and offers a unique mix of comic book focused fun to enjoy.

We hope to see you there folks!

Pony's Blizzard UPDATE!

WELL HI THERE MY LOVELY NERDS AND NERDETTES!

It's Pony here, and sorry for the lack of NOT being around. Many new things are happening for me so I've been a tad busy. But I've got a full run down of Blizzard Entertainment goodies to race through, so lets get it started!

1) In order to hold us WoW players over until the release of the next expansion, Blizzard released another patch with a new PvP season. I'm currently a week behind most hardcore Arena kids, but that's life.

2) Blizzard released Reaper of Souls today, the expansion pack to Diablo III. I've put about an hour into it so far and I'm so very pleased with it.

3) Hearthstone, Blizzard's digital card game, went live a few weeks back. And they are giving players a mount (the 'Hearthsteed') to those that win three (3) played matches outside of the starting quests.

4) This is the big one for me. At Blizzcon it was announced that Blizzard was going to be put out a DOTA style game. Think League of Legends if you play that. As soon as I heard that news I rushed to my account page and opted in to be a Beta tester for Heroes of the Storm. Not only did I get in as a Beta tester, but I'm in the ALPHA!!! So freakin' excited about this.

And one more thing. It's not Blizzard related, but this guy is nothing but hunk. (Sorry guys, had to say it. Afterall, I'm the only chick admin.) jason Momoa will be at the Louisville Comic Con!!!! Wait... you don't know him? *explodes*

I first saw this chunk of man meat while he was on Stargate: Atlantis. Then I took so much note when he was in season 1 of Game of Thrones. He played Conan in the reboot of Conan the Barbarian. He has some more movies that are currently in post and pre production.

Plus he's hot.

ANYWAY!

That is my update. And just in time. My Heroes of the Storm finished installing. And this will play hell on me wanting to go to bed early tonight.s

Future Plans For Nerds Socialize!

Wow... It's been a fun past two days at Nerds Socalize this week. Stormwulf, J-Foo, and Mr. Grey got together to talk ideas, future, direction, and events they'd like to do in 2014. Even recorded episode 8 of the podcast (episode 7 will be up SOON). They're the driving force behind Nerds Socialize, and current events in their lives have made them want focus more on Nerds Socialize and try to make it grow as big as possible. They're wanting to try and find a place of their own to record the podcast in a more professional environment. Down side, it's gonna cost money, so it's going to take some time for the podcast to get to that point, unless they can find a way to create some kind of revenue to help support nerds socialize and make it self sustainable at the least.

Also, they want to do more with youtube in the long run. J-foo enjoys his lets plays, and Stormwulf and Mr. Grey want to be more apart of them as well. Only down side, given the location each person lives in, it's hard for them to get together on a frequent basis to obtain that goal without revenue. On another topic, they want to get a bit more personal with people who may listen to Nerds Socialize. They want to hit the streets and ask people what they think of the nerd world that is at hand. The BIGGEST goal they've dreamt up, is live events. They would love to be able to go to conventions to do the podcast, even cover the convention in and of itself. J-Foo's favorite live event is a Halloween Trick'r Treat event. Talking to those costumed Halloweeners who beg for candy, and maybe even cover a haunted house or two. Once again, these are big goals and will take time and major effort to achieve. But these three are swing for the fences for nerds socialize, and really want to bring something special to the nerd people!

We here are Nerds Socialize have great fun making things for you, our viewers to enjoy, and we hope to keep making them for a long as we can. So please, if you wish to support us, please like, share, and subscribe!

Tales of Zesteria Trailer RELEASED!

Excitement! Though sadly this trailer leaves you a  bit wanting. it shows you he beautiful landscape in which the game takes place. the stunning PS3 graphics are amazing, and the character design makes you feel like you're playing an anime rather than a game itself. so we still have barely any info on this game. But hopefully some of the story we'll be revealed in english soon.

Episode 4 of Nerds Socialize is up on youtube!

Please forgive my shyness. I normally don't do videos of me talking in front of the camera about stuff, unless I've got it all planned out. as you can see, this is not the case. There is about a whole 3 minutes before I started to podcast where I just couldn't do it. I'll post that video up later. Enjoy guys!

Release Date for Diablo 3 Expansion: Reaper of Souls Announced!

Hi my lovely nerds and nerdettes! Pony here with a bit of Diablo 3 gaming news. The next expansion is set to release the 25th of March, next year. Oh Mr. Angel of Death, I can not wait to slice and dice you! Not much else to share, but the excitement is nice!

Episode 4: Rants and Ramblings

Well I said it would be up by Wednesday, and by golly it is! The fourth episode of the podcast is done. This one probably isn't as entertaining, but I state some personal views and rant and rave about a few things. There is also a video of this podcast that will be up very soon. and a video of me being extremely nervous before hand. so stay tuned for that folks!

Episode 4

Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors

Well, this is a turn of events! Turns out "Tecmo", the developers of games like "Ninja Gaiden", "Dead Or Alive", "Dynasty Warriors", "Fatal Frame", and "Metroid: Other M" are developing the new game for the "Legend of Zelda" series! It looks freaking amazing! Link, from the looks of it, will be able to wage full on battles against the enemy, instead of his usual, one on one style of fighting. He'll be able to utilize all the weapons in his arsenal to deal out tons of damage to his enemies in this game. it looks stunning, and looks like it'll be a barrel of monkey's to play (kudo's of you who get the monkey reference!)! So, check out the vid for some exciting gameplay footage!

Gaming News: Tales Of Zestria Announced!

OK folks, J-Foo here for some news. I'm taking the reigns from Stormwulf for the day on Gaming news!

If you didn't know already, Me and Wulfie are BIG “Tales Of” fans. We love EVERY “Tales Of” game that has come out. We play them cooperatively and have a blast doing it. We love the story, we love the style, we love the music, and we love the funny! Oh right, and the gameplay, that's kind of important to! These games have held a big place in our hearts for a long long time. My personal favorite being “Tales Of Phantasia”, followed by Tales of Symphonia (which will be having an HD release soon). This new “Tales Of” game is supposedly Bandai Namco's attempt to establish a relationship with their American and European audience, by announcing right out the gate that it WILL be coming out in America, instead of us having to wait and wait, and beg and beg to see if there is any hope of the new “Tales Of” game coming to the states.

They better keep true on their words, because Bandai Namco has been notorious for releasing Tales of games that are supposedly AMAZING, and not releasing them in the states unless we beg on our hands and knees for them, and even though the chances are slim. I think in all fairness, Bandai Namco should release ALL “Tales Of” games the decided not to release in the States, but I'm not going to wait for a miracle. The new game looks good, the screen shots of the characters look pretty, and they're hyping the story pretty broadly as well. Though, if it's the default “the world is in danger, just cause, now go to the temples of elements and fight the elemental summon spirits to gain the power to save the world, cause for some reason, only you and you rag tag band of do gooders can... never mind a whole army... just 6 of you should do...” I might be a bit annoyed, but who am I to complain, I'll still buy it anyway.

Wulfie's Gamer Update! Dragon Age Inquisition, and Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2!

What's up people, StormWulf here with today's Gaming News.

So first things first, be sure that you check out the vid attached to this post if you are a fan of the Dragon Age Series. It gives us some insight in how the game will be played, how they revamped the fighting mechanics. We also learn that we play as the "Inquisitor" in this one and you can use your sword to toss out with a chain attached, and in Scorpion like fashion, pulls the enemy too the player so they can attack them. Check out the vid here!

Now today's spot light is the up and coming “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2” (LoS2). “LoS2” takes place many years after both “LoS” and “LoS: Mirrors of Fate” for the 360 and the 3DS respectively. Players resume control of Gabriel Belmont, aka Dracula (Voiced by Robert Carlye of Once oupon a Time) in his quest for mortality. Gabriel wakes up after many years and is approach by his long friend Zobek, aka Death (voiced by Patrick Stewart, of such fame as Star Trek and American Dad), whom has a proposition for Gabriel, Help him in exchange for mortality. “LoS2” will feature a new open world map and a free flowing camera, no longer bound by the computer, and now in the players control.

The Magic system of the previous game is being replaced by the Void Sword, which will allow players to regain health, and the Chaos Claws, which will allow the player to break enemy defenses and deal out massive damage. Gabriel's combat cross is gone, instead the players get to unleash death and vengeance with the Blood Whip, which operates in a similar manner to the Combat Cross. “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2” is set to hit the store shelves on February 25, 2014 so be sure to check it out, I know I will! Wolfie outski!

Recognizing the Nerds at Nerds Socialize!

Okay folks, J-Foo here

As you may well know, I do a lot here on Nerds Socialize, but I sometimes forget there are people who are here to help me. Good friends who are behind the idea of Nerds Socialize as much as I am.

To help with your memory, there are three... well... four of us... wait... FIVE of us, sorry, even I forget that there is more than just me doing this, though two of them are more on the sidelines for the time being.

Starting with me (of course!): I host the podcast (which I need to record more of) and record lets plays, and do various random updates to the facebook page and manage the blog right here!

StormWulf: a good friend of mine who stays up to date on the latest games news practically 24/7, and tries his best to update the facebook news feed as much as he possibly can. He's been having some personal problems as of late, but still took the time to try and update when he could, and the fact he did that while being so busy means a lot to me, and hopefully to anyone who reads these posts. he also co-hosted the second episode of the podcast with me!

Pony: another friend of mine who is a World of Warcraft (WoW) Aficionado and keeps up to date on things invovling anything "Blizzard" entertainment related. She even helped cover some of Blizzcon for us on her own dime. That was something I didn't expect, but I was happy she was willing to do that for Nerds Socialize. Even though she was going spend the money anyway, she didn't have to take the time to put up the info on the facebook page, and we thank her for that, because little thing's, big or small helps Nerds Socialize in a big way. She also Co-hosted the 3rd episode of the podcast.

Mr. Cucoon: She is a weird one, but she was more than happy enough to help with the First episode of the podcast, along with her friend "Mr. Burrito" and talk about various things in nerd culture. she even draws comics, which we put up sometimes and can be found on Mr. Cucoon's tumblr, which you can access through our website at nerdssocialize.com.

Elihueynz: another good friend of mine. he hasn't really done anything for Nerds Socialize in an active role, but he and Mr. Cucoon really helped me suck up the courage to just put my self out there on the internet and start Nerds Socialize. I'm hoping when his life settles down soon, that he'll have a more active role here at Nerds Socialize!

Well that's it folks. I just wanted to take this quick moment to acknowledge all the people who help me, and that it's not just me putting all this together. There are good friends behind your humble host who truly believe in me and my cause. As always, thank you. We're just a bunch of Nerds socializing, but that's what we're here for.

Nerd World Problems 1: Capcom... TEN YEAR!?

J-foo has been a busy boy these last couple days! from failing at Dark Souls, to ranting to a webcam. He decided to call his little skit "Nerd World Problems" since it deals with silly problems that only nerds would consider a travesty. so please, enjoy J-foo in his natural state... as he rigorously explains things to the nerdiest of degrees.
