Attack on Titan live action movie!

Now that we've defined our roles here at Nerds Socialize, your humble host is here to give you some anime related news!

For those of you like Mr. Grey, may be big fans of the anime "Attack on Titan". If you are, you may or may not have heard of the live action movie that is currently being made, bases on the anime. Well currently, there is literally only ONE picture depicting the film that has been released, and boy do those titans look ugly!... I'll just leave this here, enjoy!

New Tactics Game From the Creator Of Final Fantasy Tactics!

As a gamer, I love Final Fantasy, but to be honest... not my favorite Final Fantasy. My favorite Final Fantasy was "Final Fantasy Tactics" for the GBA and PSX. I got so good at that game it wasn't even funny guys. My character would have so many skills that he'd have a contingency plan for his contingency plans! Well the Creator of that very game,Yasumi Matsuno, is creating a NEW tactics type game "Unsung Story" and on top of that, it's being funded by a kickstarter. It's amazing the world we live in, that we can fund projects all on our own with the help of fans on the internet.

not much is really known about the game itself, but we do know that the music will be provided by the same guy who works with Matsuno on ALL his project. I love when they try to stay true to the style that they use, down to the same music artist.

Gaming Fun With J-Foo: The Hidden Feat. Mr. Grey

Hey! Mr. Grey and I (J-Foo) got silly with some Hidden! fun freakin' game! there are two teams, the hunters and the Hidden. The hunters are a team up to 9 players, and the hidden is a team of 1, and both of their goals is to kill one another. the advantage the Hidden has over the Hunters is that he's invisible and has aone hit kill. so he has to pick off his enemies one by one. check it out guys. it's a full conversion mod of half-life two, but you don't need the game to play it. Definately worth playing guys!

Future Card BuddyFight... Are they even trying now?...

Okay. You all know Stormwulf and I are HUGE yugioh fans. We play all kinds of card games, but yugioh is our favorite. We both casually play Cardfight Vanguard by Bushiroad. But as I was surfing YouTube today, I found something I found utterly ridiculous.

Future Card BuddyFight... The name made me think "oh! Is this a parody video of cardgame animes?!"

Answer, no... It's an ACTUAL show! Made by Bushiroad!... But... The show just seems dumb, especially the name of the show. I only watched a little of the show, but it truly dumbfounded me. I know cardgame animes are dumb. I know, I said it, but its the truth. I love cardgame animes, but the long standing truth is that they are dumb in the end.

Future Card BuddyFight is the epitome of dumb in my eyes. I would LOVE to have been in on that netting about the name of this show. Had to be the shortest meeting ever.

It's on YouTube in English if you're curious, lemme know if I'm wrong guys.

Detective Conan/Case Closed Nintendo 3DS game

WOW, Detective Conan is on a roll this year. Another movie, another season, AND a video game!? I mean that's impressive for a show that's been going on since the dawn of time. I love Detective Conan, and so do a lot of my friends, but you also know my fondness of well done endings for really good shows. and how much I hate when a show drags on for too long. But hey, if they can keep making this show for this long, then if it ain't broke, don't fix it I suppose. But I would REALLY like to see Jimmy/Conan take down the people who ruined his life once and for all.

Mushishi: The Sequal Chapter (Season 2)

Wow, didn't see that coming. After the Airing of the Mushishi Speacial at the start of the year, they announced that there will be a second season! this is exciting! this anime is a mystery in and of itself, and not much is truly known about the world, the monster, or even the main character. so hopefully this new season will shine a new light on this and make us fall even deeper in love with this anime.

Nerds Socialize Episode 5 Video up!

The Christmas day episode of the podcast is up!!!! Hope you enjoy!

Horror

(J- Foo the killer?)

think in the 8th episode of the podcast, we'll do some talk about horror.  Something about the genre just draws people to it. Movies, books, tv shows, videogames, horror is just everywhere, even within our own mind we make up things that make us afraid like shadows in the dark.

What is so appealing about being scared? Especially when we can fright so easily at times. Sometimes we can be scared so bad that we sleep with the lights on. You may even lose control of certain bodily functions.  I look forward to talking about it!

Episode 5: Well Wishes and Happy Holidays

SO! Here it is! one of the episodes we recorded on christmas day! hope you enjoy. My little niece was shy to talk about santa and was nervous, but hopefully she had a good christmas!

Episode 5!

Podcast Update

There will be TWO episodes to the podcast added this week. One short with Me and Mtre (my nephew) and one with me and stormwulf. Both taking place on Christmas day! just need some editing and such. And again, we're sorry for the lack of content, just been busy with holidays and such. Might try to do a New years eve podcast as well. so stay tuned folks!

Cardfight Vanguard anime/live-action hybrid movie

One of my favorite shows AND card games "Cardfight Vanguard" will be coming out with a movie soon. It has an interesting concept where it integrates anime and live action into one format. From what I can tell from the info released, it takes place in two different realms, but the characters may be working in conjunction together in the anime and live action realms to solve the over arcing problem in the movie. It sounds complicated, but its also innovative and the gimmick might attract more people to see it. I know I will be!!

On a side note, Cardfight Vanguard has been for a fourth season!

Episode 4 of Nerds Socialize is up on youtube!

Please forgive my shyness. I normally don't do videos of me talking in front of the camera about stuff, unless I've got it all planned out. as you can see, this is not the case. There is about a whole 3 minutes before I started to podcast where I just couldn't do it. I'll post that video up later. Enjoy guys!

Episode 4: Rants and Ramblings

Well I said it would be up by Wednesday, and by golly it is! The fourth episode of the podcast is done. This one probably isn't as entertaining, but I state some personal views and rant and rave about a few things. There is also a video of this podcast that will be up very soon. and a video of me being extremely nervous before hand. so stay tuned for that folks!

Episode 4

Anime: Pokemon X and Y Movie

You KNEW this had to be coming! There has been a new pokemon game, show and movie EVERY year since I was in friggin' 3rd grade folks, why stop the money train now!? So the new pokemon movie will be out July of 2014 for all the little kiddies to drool over and become even more mindless before. Though I won't lie, I still love pokemon folks, always will. Though I think the amount of pokemon is getting absurd. And now we have “MEGA” Evolutions?! Come on! What's left for the classic pokemon fans like me anymore? We have Ash Ketchum and Pikachu... and that’s about it... an eternal 10 year old who just recently got an eye color through magic, and pikachu, the cutest little yellow electrified field mouse you'll ever see! Dunno if I'll watch the movie though, that might be more for the newer generation of pokemon addicts. But regardless, pokemon shows no signs of slowing down.

Anime: Mushishi Tv speical January

Well well, looks like this Anime isn't done JUST yet! Mushishi just happens to be one of your humble hosts favorite animes. It's a bit of an odd show, dealing with monsters and spirits of the spirit world that sometimes happen into our world by mistake. It is the Job of the main character “Ginko” to find and correct the problems these monsters can cause. Ginko doesn't consider the “Monsters” threats, for they aren't really monsters. More than often they are etheral beings that have just mistakenly crossed over into our world and simply do what they do to survive. Of course humans, can be harmed in the process, usually not on purpose. Ginko figures out how to let the monsters move on and the humans can go about their lives.

The format of the show is a bit odd, in the fact that little is every really known about the main character, and characters rarely every repeat in the show. The show gives you as much mystery as possible and keeps you wanting more. So imagine my excitement when I heard they were airing a NEW TV SPECIAL!!! EXCITING!!!! I can't wait to see what happens, and even more so, the Trailer even has character from previous episodes in it!!! It is set to air Janurary 4th of 2014. So makr your calenders! I know I will!

Anime: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Movie 3: Rebellion

Okay, for those of you who do not know of this show, then you don't know what the fuss is about. Now, a friend of mine demanded I watch this show. it starts off pretty slow and pretty stereotypical that it's easy to get bored watching it. It starts like the usual "normal girl meets girl with magical powers and magic girl is like "you can be magic too!"" like most magic girl animes. Well... it's like that for two episodes, and then shit gets real with Magic Girl Mami gets her head FUCKING RIPPED OFF BY A MONSTER AND HORRIBLY SCARS TWO CHILDREN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THEIR NATURAL LIVES! That scene was so shocking and unexpected, that the creator felt he had to apologize to his fans for scaring them, for he felt he misled them. No shit Sherlock.

Well, the movie has been out for awhile now. I got kinda into the show until Sakaya died. She was my favorite, and she was awesome, then BOOM, dead. Then I quickly lost interest, cause most of the other characters quickly got on my nerves. The show itself had a tendency to get twisted and convoluted at times, and really assumed quickly that you actually gave a shit about the characters in this show. I only gave one shit about one character in this show, and they fucking killed her off. NOW I didn't get to the end, so maybe it was all happy funtimes at the end, and the same for the movies, but for the most part the series relied heavily on time travel, branched off destinies that can go one way or another, and what-if scnarios that consequently don't really have much bearing on what happens at all, since it's just something that "might've" happened. I don't mind when shows do this, but the way they did it in this show just annoyed the crap out of me, and just made the show confusing. If you're looking ofr somethign with plenty of twists and turns, then by all means give it a watch. If you want strong character development and a solid linear plot, then no... get far away. the animation is beautiful and the psychological aspects are nice, but just not something I can settle into and watch with comfort.

Cosplay, Art, hobby, and fun

J-Foo here once again with another insightful tidbit into nerd culture! For those of you who do not know what cosplay is, it is a term that originated in japan. It's simply a combination of two words. These two words are “Costume” and “play”. Take out the “tume” smash in some play, and you get “Cosplay”! It's a practice that also originated heavily in japan as well. The purpose of cosplay is to dress up as a character of some sort, usually from a popular show, anime, manga, comic, or movie of some sort, but custom made characters are also used for cosplay.

As a HUGE nerd, I have done cosplay. I usually plan at least ONE costume for a convention I'm going to. The last convention I went to, “Fandom Fest” here in Louisville, I went as my own custom character I made from the game “Portal”, “Brock (Rock) Allen” whom I dubbed “Aperature science: Subject Zero”, whom I also started a facebook page... here!: https://www.facebook.com/AperatureScienceSubjectZero

I have a working portal gun prop (thanks to my 90,000 gamestop reward points!) and Aperature laboratories jumpsuit, topped off with a black Fedora with white pinstripes, personalized cigarette holder and fake prop cigs with a working lighter. I also have a wrist strap for my phone which I load a “portal turret” app on to add to the costumes atmosphere. This is by far my best cosplay, and I enjoy getting stopped for pictures. Especially when me and Mr. Cocoon went as a test subject and a Aperature scientist with a companion cube. SO many pictures were had that day, made my day. I especially love it when kids stop me to take pictures with them. That magical moment when a kid meets someone from something they've only seen on their TV makes me smile. They're just so awe struck.

Cosplay is a great way to have fun and get out of your skin for a change and interact with others in ways you wouldn't normally. I know when I first cosplayed, I was horribly embarrassed and uncomfortable, but when you start getting the hang of it and show some confidence, you feel a sense of invigoration that just makes you take on your new role with mucho-gusto! I didn't start getting comfortable with Cosplay until I started getting compliments on a custom made costume of a custom character I had created. I was constantly asked “so... what show is that character from? He looks freakin awesome”, to which I responded.

“oh... I made this character up” and they replied in kind.

“Well... freaking awesome man...”

My second Cosplay also had a moment where I awe struck some kids as well. I cosplayed as Bandit Keith from Yu-Gi-Oh. I even entered the Yu-Gi-Oh tournament for the fun of it. It was a fun and great experience, especially when people I played against got into it. They would Accuse me of cheating, or they would warn people “watch out... that's bandit Keith... he's sneaky... and Canadian...”. One kid ran up to me dressed as Yugi from the show and shouted “IT'S TIME TO DUEL!”, this made me laugh, but it also made me very happy that so many people had so much fun, just from me pretending to play a character.

Cosplay has so much that it can offer when you decide to suck it up and give it a try. There are also competitions for cosplay, but I've never really liked being in those. It is just something that can be done for fun, though some people actually manage to make a living doing cosplay, and are EXTREMELY gifted at making GREAT costumes, and even go through the extremes to just stay in shape to pull off their characters more accurately (i.e. Jessica Nigiri, Yaya Han, Sarah Fong, JC Alcantara, Danquish ect). BUT you do not have to go through that extreme just to cosplay. You can just do it just cause you want to, regardless of how good you are at getting a costume together. So hey, if you plan to go to a convention, why not give cosplaying a shot? Get into character, and just have a blast!

(Cosplayers Featured above are  Jessica Nigiri, Yaya Han, Sarah Fong, JC Alcantara, Danquish, and me, though I know my cosplay isn't as awesome, at least I got to meet Jason David Frank!)

New Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Spin off manga

So if you've listened to at least the first podcast, you'd know that I, along with Mr. Cucoon and Mr. Burrito, are HUGE Gurren Lagann fans. And there are SEVERAL spin off manga's that reimagine the character of the series as various other things. In the new spin-off manga, they will be reimagined as baseball players... I don't know how we go from Giant Mech battles to playing baseball, but it's Gurren Lagann, logic has no place here!

It will be called " Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Otoko Doahō!-hen" or roughly translated "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Total Idiot Man!" They're going to start running this new manga the 28th of this month (December for all you weirdo's out there... you know who you are!) in "Monthly Hero's" magazine in japan. So I'm sure come the 28th, the internet will be a buzz with everyone looking for some one to have fan translated the new manga (for those of you who may be unfamiliar, "Manga" essentially is the word for Japanese graphic novels). I'm sure Fan translators will quickly pick this up so the world can once again have their dose of that lovely drug know as Gurren Lagann!

Some goals for nerds socialize

J-foo here again! I know, ive been busy bee lately, right?

I've been so busy with work that I've been neglecting Nerds Socialize a lot. I've decided, to keep me involved as I wish to be, I need to create some goals for 2014 that I wish Nerds Socialize to meet by the end of the coming year. One of these goals is that I wish to establish a relationship with each person who wishes to visit my site. I mean, it's fun just generating random snippets of info and news for you guys, but that's not why I started Nerds Socialize.

For the next goal, to create something for you guys that involves my friends that will entertain each and every one of you. I have a lot of stories and ideas in my head, but I drastically need help from people involved in my life.

Three, I want to get the podcast episode count up to at least 30+ by the end of 2014. This requires me to spend a lot of time working on Nerds Socialize.

Four, create more YouTube content for you guys. It'll take me time to get used to being on video and getting comfortable in my own skin. I like socializing, but as I've stated many times, I can be awkward at first. It'll be like meeting new people for the first time over and over till I get used to it.

This one is more for me than for you, but I hope it'll make me feel more comfortable and give you guys bigger insight into me and who I am. Five I'll try to start posting my day to day boxing training for you guys. I plan to fight some time next year, I just need to train more regularly and properly. I hope it'll keep you interested in me as a person, and also show you what it's like to do such training.

There... Five goals for this blog that I want to finish this coming year. Make me stick to it guys, I really want this idea of mine to work, and I intend to make it happen. And I hope to entertain and help the people who visit my site. Thank you guys, I'm done being super serious right now, heh.

18th Detective Conan Movie!? When will it END?!

Okay guys, Time to talk about an anime I REALLY like. Detective Conan.

it's a great show with lots of mystery solving and detective work. the main arc is pretty silly, and has still yet to have been resolved since the FIRST episode, which has always been a main thorn in my side for a LONG LONG time. I love the show, but for me, a show has to end eventually. With over 700+ episodes spanning across 23 seasons, and 17 (now 18) movies, I think it's about damn time we finally give us a conclusion. As much as I LOVE the show, I also love endings. Now, this love of endings really depends on how WELL it ends rather than it just ending. I honestly think the only reason this show has went on for so long is cause they'e afraid they just don't know how to end it properly. This isn't suprising considering the longevity of the show itself. There has been a lot of work poured in the Detective Conan and the cases he solves, but how will he ever turn back form being a kid? will he ever find the men who did it to him? will he live happily ever after as Jimmy Kudo once again? or will he be forced to grow up naturally as an 18 year old stuck in a 10 year olds body living with his girlfriend and he dad for the rest of his life? SO many question!!!! well, regardless of wanting an end to the series, I can't help but be excited for the new movie as well. The movie will premeire in Japan april 2014, mark (or program) your calender (app) folks!
